The Colour Society - IPA Diploma Course in Paint Technology - 2015
Applications are invited for admission to the The Colour Society - IPA Diploma Course in Paint Technology for
the new session of the diploma course which is to commence on, Tuesday, 04th August 2015.

Application forms and details of course can be obtained from the office of the Colour Society either in person
or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope. Completed forms should be submitted by June 15th 2015.

Important Information about the course is given below:

Eligibility for Admission:
Personnel employed in the paint and allied industries (Members of I.P.A.) or the Colour Society will be eligible for joining the Diploma Course. In the case of H.S.C or equivalent, a minimum experience of 3 years will be required. In the case of B.Sc. Degree holders, 1 year experience will be considered adequate. Personnel who are not the employees of the I.P.A. members, will have to become member of the Colour Society to join the course. The course is open to all personnel, whether employed in the Laboratory, Production, Technical Service, Sales, etc. It is also available to personnel concerned with use and application to paints in various consumer industries.

Fees:
The fees for the one-year course is Rs. 8500/- which has to be paid in the single instalment on admission which includes course materials. In general preference will be given to candidates sponsored by the employers. About 40 students are normally admitted for the course.

Course:
The course will cover fundamentals of Paint and Printing Ink Technology viz. Pigments and Extenders, Oil, Natural and Synthetic resins, Solvents, Surface Active Agents, Manufacture of Resins, Varnishes and Paint applications, usage, testing and evaluation of paints will also be covered.

Lectures will be held thrice a week. i.e. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 6.00 to 8.00 p.m.
The course will be for 40 weeks, ie. of 240 hours spread over to Ten months. Institute of Chemical Technology, University of Mumbai Matunga will be the venue for the lectures. Attendance to the course by the candidate is compulsory.

Practical Training:
There has been constant suggestion from the participants and others to introduce some practicals. We have incorporated this part in the present curriculum. Many relevant experiments for analysis of resins, pigments, solvents, additives and final paint are set up. Participants will have opportunity to conduct some experiments themselves as well as many experiments will be demonstrated to them also.

Examinations:
On completion of lectures, an examination will be held to assess the candidate's knowledge of fundamentals of paint technology. Candidates give examination in four papers of 100 marks each. Successful candidates will be awarded The Colour Society - IPA diploma in Paint Technology.
